The cut-in
The cut-in is Calendrop’s reminder. Instead of a banner in the corner, it covers every screen until you deal with the meeting.
When it appears
Section titled “When it appears”- A set number of minutes before the meeting starts — two by default. You can change it, and zero means at the start. See Settings.
- Still within a few minutes after the start, so a Mac that wakes from sleep just after a meeting began interrupts you too.
- Once per occurrence of a meeting. A meeting you joined or dismissed — from the cut-in or from the menu — does not cut in again, also after Calendrop is relaunched.
Some meetings never cut in: events you declined, all-day events and cancelled events. Two kinds cut in depending on your settings:
- Meetings without a video link, such as in-person ones, cut in only if you turn that on.
- Meetings you answered “maybe” to or have not answered cut in unless you turn that off. They are marked as such on the cut-in and in the menu. An event you see through several accounts counts as accepted when any of them accepted it.
What it covers
Section titled “What it covers”Every connected display, above full-screen apps, the Dock and the menu bar, on every Space. When you connect or disconnect a display, or change its resolution, the cut-in is rebuilt to cover exactly the screens there are now.
What it shows
Section titled “What it shows”Each meeting on the cut-in shows its title, time and countdown, its account and calendar, where it is, who else is invited and the start of its description.
The cut-in falls in from the top of the screen, like a blind coming down, unless you turn that off. With Reduce Motion on in System Settings, it fades in instead. Rebuilding it after a display change does not replay the entrance.
How it ends
Section titled “How it ends”Only by you. Escape and closing shortcuts such as ⌘W do nothing, and a cut-in that has appeared stays even after the meeting is well under way.
- Join opens the meeting’s video link in your default browser. It is the largest button on the cut-in. Google Meet links open as the account the meeting came from, even when your browser defaults to another Google account.
- OK takes the place of Join for a meeting without a video link. It only closes the cut-in.
- Return presses Join or OK when the cut-in shows a single meeting.
- Hold to dismiss is the small control in the corner. Press and hold it to settle every meeting on the cut-in without joining.
Meetings close together
Section titled “Meetings close together”One cut-in shows every meeting that is due, and every meeting that starts close to the first one or overlaps it, each with its own countdown and Join button. A conflict is visible at once instead of as a series of interruptions.
- Joining one meeting also settles the meetings that overlap it: you have chosen.
- A later meeting that does not overlap the one you joined cuts in again before it starts.
- Meetings that become due while a cut-in is showing join it.
Try it
Section titled “Try it”To see the cut-in without waiting for a meeting, open Settings › Appearance, choose a sample under Preview — a single meeting, meetings at the same time, meetings close together, a meeting without a video link, or titles in many scripts — and press Try Full Screen. The trial uses sample meetings, which never count as real ones. Close it the same way: Join, or hold the corner control. A real meeting that comes due during a trial replaces it.
